The outdoor sandbox and 3-in-1 picnic table are also great for ages 6–8. Our Montessori learning toys are primarily designed for ages 2–6 as they target early childhood development milestones.

Our current catalog starts at around 18 months. Younger babies aren't yet developmentally ready for our Montessori learning toys due to small parts. However, the bookshelves and storage organizers can be set up from birth to build a reading-friendly environment from the very start.

Our products use a range of kid-safe materials depending on the item. Bookshelves and storage units are made from MDF (medium-density fiberboard) with solid wood supports. Outdoor products like the sandbox and picnic table are crafted from solid cedar or fir wood. Our Montessori learning toys are made from natural basswood or beechwood. All paints and finishes are water-based and non-toxic.

Yes. Our 3-in-1 Kids Picnic Table is ASTM and CPSIA certified. All products use non-toxic, water-based paints and are designed with smooth, rounded edges to prevent injury. All paints and finishes across our product range are water-based and non-toxic, meeting child safety standards. That said, none of our products are specifically designed to be chewed on. If your child is in a mouthing phase, we recommend supervising play sessions, particularly with the wooden toy sets.

Our outdoor products (sandbox and picnic table) are made from solid cedar or fir wood, both of which are naturally weather-resistant and suited to outdoor use. We still recommend bringing soft accessories inside during heavy rain, and applying a wood sealant annually to extend the life of the product in harsh climates.

For wooden products and bookshelves, wipe down with a damp cloth and mild soap — avoid soaking or using harsh chemical cleaners. Fabric storage bins and drawers can be spot-cleaned with a damp cloth or hand-washed and air-dried. For outdoor products, a gentle hose-down and air dry works well for routine cleaning.

Most of our furniture and outdoor products require some assembly — this is noted on each product page. Our smaller Montessori learning toys (flash cards, math boards, wooden toy sets) come ready to use straight out of the box. The Stuffed Animal Zoo Storage Tower is also tool-free and quick to set up.

Assembly time varies by product. Smaller bookshelves (like the Bear Design or Sloth Bookshelf) typically take 20–40 minutes. Larger storage units with multiple cubbies or drawers take around 45–90 minutes. Outdoor products like the sandbox and picnic table generally take 60–90 minutes with two people. All products include illustrated assembly instructions.

Most products include all required hardware (screws, bolts, and an Allen key or hex wrench). For larger furniture pieces, having a Phillips head screwdriver on hand can speed things up. A rubber mallet is occasionally useful for tapping pieces into place. No power tools are required for any of our products.

Our taller bookshelves and storage cabinets include an anti-tip strap or wall safety buckle. We strongly recommend anchoring any tall furniture to the wall, especially in homes with young children who may try to climb. Instructions for wall-anchoring are included in each product's assembly guide.

We accept returns on unused items in their original packaging. To start a return, email us at Returns@thiskidstore.com with your order number and reason for return. Once we receive and inspect the item, approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.
